Differential Placements: A Unique and Customized Initiative

Differential Placements: A Unique and Customized Initiative

The Department of Professional Studies, Christ University established in 2007 offers some of the most unique and specialized undergraduate programmes that are benchmarked with international professional bodies through a meticulous mapping of the curriculum and innovative evaluation patterns. The students are provided with excellent placements through Employability Skill Enhancement Courses like Advanced Excel, Tableau, Python are conducted along with special training / bridge courses for professional certification of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) to name a few.

The Department has initiated a unique ‘Differential Placement’ policy which is a distinct platform where a highly select few corporates with proven standards would meet eligible students who have qualified through successfully completing the norms set by the Department and earned eligibility for Placements. The specific criteria for differential placements include communication and presentation skills, technical skills, performance in Add-on programmes and academic progress in integrated programmes.

Corporates desiring to participate in the Differential Placement process need to sign an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Professional Studies. The Department of Professional Studies will act as a facilitator to selected corporates and ensure safe and secure placements for students ensuring career progression and gainful employment. The differential placementstructure compliments the existing generic placement policy of the University while also providing better placement opportunities to deserving students.

Some of the major recruiters under this initiative include Wipro, Price Water Cooper (PwC), Grant Thorton, Ernst Young (EY), ABB, KPMG, AON, Oman Insurance Company to name a few. Typical packages are in the range of Rs 6 Lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs per annum, Cost to Company (CTC), which is well above the average package for graduates under the generic placements. Some of the job roles or profiles offered are Planning and Controlling Analyst, Financial Analyst, Audit Associate, Risk Assurance and Assurance Associate.

The differential placement policy results in a win-win situation for all the stakeholders including students, Department of Professional Studies and the recruiters. Quality placements results in improved University / Department rankings, students get right job profiles, recruiters get right skill and knowledge, can avoid upskilling and reskilling and Christ University can attract more recruiters for internships and placements.

  5. Tired of timers that feel like solving a spreadsheet? 30minutetimer.net cuts through the noise with dead-simple timekeeping. I stumbled on it during finals week – one click starts a 30-minute countdown, no ads screaming at you, no mandatory sign-ins. Now I use it daily: crushing work sprints, timing HIIT workouts, even reminding me to check the laundry.
What makes it stick? It’s lightweight (loads faster than my coffee maker) but surprisingly versatile. Students dig the full-screen focus mode; parents use it for homework sessions. Last week, my neighbor borrowed it for her sourdough baking – "Finally a timer that doesn’t vanish when my phone sleeps!" she texted.
The offline feature’s clutch for dodgy Wi-Fi, and it syncs quietly between my laptop and tablet. Not sponsored, just obsessed with tools that actually respect your time. Pro tip: Bookmark it next to your go-to playlist. Your focus (and burnt dinner count) will thank you.5 minute timer
