Testimonials and reflections are very important. In the below paragraphs, a few students reflect on their experiences of virtual placements and training at Christ Deemed to be University. Reflection is an important practice for students to make sense of and grow from a learning experience, especially with respect to Placements and Training.
Employability training plays a major role in shaping up career goals of students as it enhances their employability skills and helps in transition from academics to industry. Apart from a number of placement opportunites, students who registered for placements were also given training sessions to help them get an insight into various processes that happen during a campus placement drive and also to equip them with the necessary skill sets to successfully clear each stage of the process.
These honest and thoughtful reflections from the students express the value of the excellent placement opportunities and training that they were given during their final year of study, not only through the Placement Office, but also through their academic departments including virtual sessions with the Alumni.
“When I entered the final year, I was extremely anxious about how the placements would span out in these COVID times where everything had been shifted to the online mode, and work from home. I was anxious and doubtful about the whole process in the beginning. However, soon, the Christ University, Placement Office took active steps to ensure that students who wanted to participate in placement processes had proper communication with the recruiters. To ensure this, a special option to apply for any company was set up in our student Knowledgepro portal, where we could easily apply for a job position in a company. Point of contact, like a Student Placement Representative from our class was selected who was in constant communication with us and regularly coordinated with us about everything. Effective communication and sessions on Soft Skills Training helped me throughout the recruitment process and made it hassle free. These training sessions gave me an idea about how to present myself in an interview and how to build my confidence. The challenges that were faced because of the online mode of instruction, and the difficulties posed due to COVID-19 were solved by the Placement Office.

“The overall experience of placements was very smooth as the Department of Commerce arranged for orientation sessions along with presentation sessions/guidance by Christ alumni who have been previously placed through campus recruitment. Information regarding a particular job role/profile was given well in advance allowing us sufficient time to go through the role and the company and determine if it was an ideal fit for us. The student placement representatives in each class were also extremely supportive in clarifying our doubts and queries along with resolving any issues we faced during the course of the placement session. All the companies that visited were thorough in terms of their Pre-Placement Talk along with answering any questions we had regarding the role/company. The aptitude test sessions, being online, were a bit challenging as each company used their own interface to conduct the tests. Hence, adapting to the platforms took a bit of time initially. The interview process was seamless. The interviewer and the University were aware of any technical issues we faced during the process.”

“Talking about the experience on placements at Christ (Deemed to be University), overall, it was an amazing experience. Our placement coordinator helped us a lot with respect to clarifying all our doubts regarding placements, and being there for us whenever needed. The information about the job description along with the Company profile etc, was provided well in advance and sufficient time was given for us to apply for that respective companies, which was very much convenient to us as it helped us choose for what is suitable to us. All the placement representatives were very helpful in resolving any issues faced during the placement process. The entire placement process was explained during the Pre-Placement Talks so that there was no confusion at the time of the placement process. All the queries were answered which personally benefited all of us in some or the other way. In spite of the current pandemic situation, the Placement Office supported us so that we the students faced no issues.”

“My placement experience was smooth sailing and pleasant. Christ University made sure that the entire process was efficiently managed and streamlined. I was given sufficient notice and updates regarding each stage of the placement process and was also given sufficient time for preparation. All doubts regarding the process were cleared promptly by the Faculty in-charge as well as the placement representatives of our class. I personally, greatly benefitted from the fact that the entire placement process was online given the current pandemic situation, and added to the fact that I am currently residing outside India. The placement training given by the University was greatly beneficial and enabled me to pick out pointers I could use during my test, group discussion and interview.
