Leadership Training Workshop
Leadership Training Workshop
The Office of
Placements and Career Guidance organized a ‘Leadership Training Workshop’ for
all the Post Graduate and Under Graduate Student Placement Representatives on
1st August and 8th August 2022 respectively. The event was a mix of
indoor brainstorming sessions and outdoor activities.
The workshop was
organized with the objective to instill leadership skills among the placement
representatives by focusing on interpersonal skills, team building,
communication, decision making and self-awareness.
The one day
workshop was inaugurated by Dr (Fr) Jose, Pro Vice Chancellor who explained the
importance of employability and all the requirements for the same. Then the
students were briefed on the various opportunities and responsibilities of the
student placement representatives by Dr Johny Joseph, Controller Of Examinations.
Prof Bhoopathy
and Dr. Viajaya R conducted a host of outdoor activities starting with
listening skills, Interaction activity, hand knot, team building activity, brick
game, passing the ball and much more. Each activity was unique with a focus on
developing a particular skill set. The activities helped the student leaders
imbibe the following:
Ø
“Listening skill is a key to becoming
a good leader”
Ø
“It’s not about how big the
PROBLEM is, it’s all about how patiently/calmly you find the SOLUTION. All that
it takes is the COURAGE to try to solve the problem.”
Ø
“Life is a rhythm wherein we
have to get set with the tune of the system that is in and around us. It’s
always better to GO WITH THE FLOW !”
Ø
“Team efforts and individual
efforts are equally important.”
Ø
“Active participation is always
appreciated.”
Ø
“Coordination and mutual
understanding is very important in any team.”
The post-lunch
session started with a ring activity with special emphasis on team work along
with some fun and enjoyment followed by a briefing session on the roles and
responsibilities of a placement representative. The representatives were
divided into various committees and were assigned to specific teams, based on
their area of interest like social media, web designing, training, liaison and
networking.
The session
concluded with a feedback session from the group and a few of the
representatives sharing their learning experiences.
