Established in 1991, the Department of Hotel Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has been offering an AICTE accredited 4-Year Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) Programme and providing the best professional and quality manpower to the hospitality and service industry since the last three decades. The BHM programme has been consistently ranked amongst the top five private hotel management institutes in the country.
The BHM programme offered at CHRIST, helps the students to develop industry skills and management acumen as the syllabus is also designed to mould them as management professionals. To meet the ever changing and constantly evolving needs of the hospitality industry, the department has included career oriented topics like digital marketing, neuro marketing, Imagineering to name a few which will help the students to keep abreast with the latest trends in the industry.
Students have to undergo a mandatory summer internship
during the first three years of the programme, which will enable them to gain a
hands-on industry experience. Other annual events like SWAD- promoting
local food, sustainable farming practices and food produce, Parivaar –
Community service and service learning, Italk – Expert talks, Masterclass –
Culinary demonstrations, Cul-Art – Restaurant management club, Sour Grapes –
The beverage club, UKTI (webinars) talks by industry
experts to name a few, help the students hone their operational and management
skills.
Some of the major players in the hospitality sector like Taj Group of Hotels, Hilton, Oberoi, ITC Welcome Group, MSC Cruise Liner, Hyatt etc have been our regular recruiters and students have been offered quality placements in different management profiles like Front Office, Food and Beverage, Chef, Facility Management, Sales and Marketing to name a few. Fresh graduates are typically offered packages in the range of Rs 3-5 lacs Cost To Company (CTC).
The department also hosts various events and workshops for the skill enhancement of students, where industry experts from different domains of hospitality management like culinary art, bakery, wine tasting, food and beverages etc provide specific inputs on the skillsets required to develop as excellent hospitality industry professionals. Odyssey, a National level competition in association with Taj Group of Hotels has been a regular event for the past 27 years.
