Pandemic Fails to Dent Technology Hiring

The School of Engineering and Technology at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), established in 2008, has an excellent Campus Placement record for Engineering students. The academic year 2020-21, despite the raging Pandemic, has witnessed an increase in the number of organizations participating in campus recruitment. A total of 93 organizations from different sectors like IT, Heavy Engineering, Automobile, Audit and Tax, Data Analytics, EduTech etc. have participated in the campus hiring process for fresh engineering graduates. Some of the prominent recruiters include Capgemini, SAP Labs, DXC Technology, REPOS, Epsilon, SysCloud, MindTree, Cerner Healthcare, TCS, Amazon, PwC, DELL to name a few.

The final year students of the Bachelor of Technology programme were given a ten-day Campus Recruitment Training (CRT), which was conducted through a virtual mode by Seventh Sense and Bizotic. The training covered various aspects of campus recruitment process like resume writing, personal interview, mock group discussion sessions, analytical skills and logical reasoning. These sessions helped the students to virtually simulate a campus recruitment drive and provided an insight into key focus areas. Another important aspect of the training was that the students were thoroughly briefed on how to prepare for the campus recruitment process in a virtual mode, as this was a first time experience due to the Pandemic.

The School of Engineering and Technology has also established a vibrant Academia-Industry interface through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various organizations such as Ingersoll Rand,  Renault, Nissan, Code Tantra ATS, Tech Mahindra, BOSCH, Mercedes Benz, Tata Advanced Materials etc which help the students to develop skills and understand academics from an industry perspective.

A total of 312 students received placement offers during the academic year 2020-21, through the campus recruitment processes. The highest annual salary packages include CTCs (Cost to Company) of Rs 15 lakhs per annum  offered by CISCO; Rs 8 lakhs by Hashedin; Rs 8 lakhs by MoneyTap; Rs 8 Lakhs by Dell; Rs 8 lakhs by Eurofins; Rs 7.20 lakhs by TCS. The average salary package offered was around Rs 6 lakhs per annum, CTC.

The School of Engineering facilitates students’ learning through sessions and seminars on problem solving, creative thinking, open-ended experiment and live projects. Students are exposed to live projects and internships in the industry from the third semester till their final semester. Additionally, they are encouraged to publish papers and presentations in conferences. A total of 95 students from the 5th and 6th Semesters of the Bachelor of Technology programmes were offered internship opportunities with 25 organizations. Though established in 2008, The School of Engineering and Technology has developed quickly into one of the leading technology institutes when it comes to quality of education, holistic development of students and campus placements for engineering graduates.
