Student Reflections on Placements – Mechanical Engineering
Reflection is a process where students describe their learning, how it changed, and how it might relate to future learning experience. Reflection is an important practice for students to make sense of and grow from a learning experience, especially with respect to Placements and Training
The following paragraphs are some of the reflections of students’ experiences on campus placements, as nothing speaks better than a testimonial. Here are a few testimonials of campus placements by the BTech Mechanical Engineering students on what led them to landing good placement opportunities at Christ University, School of Engineering.
“Every student hopes to kick start his or her career in the best possible opportunities in the market and our Placement Office has played a extremely integral part in getting us the opportunities. Given the situation around Covid and the slim job market, I would’ve found it extremely hard to get an interview at all. But the Placement Office at the School of Engineering, lead by the dynamic Mrs. Sunitha Rao, guided and helped us throughout the process of placements. I would like to thank the Placement Office for helping me throughout and helping me land in this role. There were quite a number of companies that came along for placements to our batch compared to the previous years, and we had the option to pick and choose the roles we wanted to interview for. Personally, my interview was entirely online because of the pandemic and lockdown situation, and I could not have had a more clear instruction as to when and how to join in for meetings and calls. This gave me the time for me to prep up for those interviews. Also, the Placement Office was guiding me until the point of receiving the offer. I would also like to thank Mr. Ajith Gopinath, our department placement head for helping us prepare and giving out suggestions. I am also extremely grateful to my department of Mechanical Engineering for supporting us during the placement process. On the whole, we were trained and guided for and finally given the opportunities to get placed.”

“I would like to start off by thanking everyone at Christ (Deemed to be University) for all the constant efforts and support to nurture every single one of us. I would like to sincerely thank and appreciate Mrs. Sunitha Rao, Placement Officer, for her outstanding efforts to get all of us placed. Her guidance and precious life lessons have brought us a long way in our career today. She kept every single one of us motivated in spite of repeated failures when we were not able to get placed. Also, all the student coordinators have strived hard to make every single placement drive seamless for all of us. I got campus placement in Wenger & Watson Inc, a talent search firm with recruits exclusively for Product Based Companies, in December 2020, as an Associate Technical Recruiter. Being a mechanical engineering graduate, HR domain was something really new to explore. Since then, there has been a steep learning curve in my career and I’m very glad to say that things have been going really well for me in this field. I had got an opportunity to recruit end-to-end for top class product based companies like Atlassian, Cred and Zeta through Wenger & Watson Inc. It has always been a privilege to interact with the top engineers from all these firms and get amazing learning which has created an impact in my life for a lifetime. It has been an amazing journey, and I strongly believe that the Placement Office will continue to bring about a significant change in every single student’s life.”

“I was very happy with the placement process that occurred for my batch 2020-21. All the details regarding each companies would be shared with us in advance in our college mail, and we were also informed in our classes in a detailed manner. We had around 70 companies coming to our campus for recruitment which were based on different domains and fields which can help an individual to get a job of their choice and interest. I was placed in Amazon India which I never thought that I could get into, such an amazing company. I would like to thank Ms Sunitha Rao from the bottom of my heart for all the arrangement and formalities done to get us placements. Her support and encouragement was immense throughout our placement recruitment.”

“CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Faculty of Engineering and the Placement Office played an integral role in helping many of us get placed during these difficult times. The placement training provided during our final year was top notch and helped me extensively in cracking most of the aptitude and managerial level questions. The training was extremely well tailored to give us the tools necessary to solve any type of questions and also an insight was given on how interviews work and how to handle tricky situations that may arise during an interview. I am very much privileged to be working in my current role at Citrix Systems. The Placement Office facilitated this simple and seamless transition from college to work. I would also like to extend my gratitude towards my teachers and the administration for providing us with this wonderful space of knowledge, where we were taught to work for a career rather than a job.”
