Placement Experiences of Electronics and Communication Engineering Students
Placement Experiences of Electronics and Communication Engineering Students
The School of Engineering and Technology at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), established in 2008, has an enviable record when it comes to Campus Placements for Engineering students. The academic year 2020-21, witnessed a meteoric rise in the number of organizations participating in campus recruitment. Organizations from different sectors like IT, Heavy Engineering, Automobile, Audit and Tax, Data Analytics, EduTech etc., recruited from the campus.
The following paragraphs are some of the reflections of students’ experiences on campus placements and training. Here are a few testimonials of campus placements by the BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering students on what led them to landing excellent placement opportunities at Christ University, School of Engineering & Technology. Reflection is a skill that often goes undervalued in classrooms that are packed with content. However, reflection is an important practice for students to make sense of and grow from a learning experience, especially with respect to Placements and Training.
“ Placements is priority number one for an engineering student and getting opportunities for the placement / recruitment drives before completion of the course is very vital. The entire year was a mixture of nervousness and anxiety, but all the placement processes went on very well because of our Placement Office, through which we had opportunities to participate in recruitment processes of many companies. Also, the placement training helped us to know what skills we were good at and where we needed to improve. I am very grateful to our Department Faculty members for their continuous support and sincerely helping me to grab a first ever opportunity at Deloitte”

“The placement drives which happened during my batch, the class of 2020, turned out to be a great exposure to the start of my professional life. Needless to say, our placement officer was the backbone for the whole program. She made sure each and every student received the support they needed in terms of placements. We almost saw a new company every week in campus, to recruit students, since the drive started. I got placed at Amazon India, and I have not turned back since. I am personally and professionally at a great place at work. All thanks to Sunitha ma’am for personally making me choose the right place to go to.”

“It was my immense fortune to have been part of the Class of 2020, for which Sunitha Ma’am led the campus placements. Our batch saw an amazing and exponential growth in terms of the number of companies visiting our campus for placement drives, and the number of students getting placed. She even took an extra step to ensure I made the right decision which I had almost turned down otherwise. I am at the right place for my professional growth and extremely happy here. We were lucky enough to have a confirmed job while graduating which had been a concern for us at the beginning of the academic year”.

“One of the main concerns throughout the first few years of my college life was basically whether I would get a job at the end of the BTech programme. Initially, I honestly didn’t have the hope of getting many companies for placements. I still remember the inauguration that happened in the auditorium, where the Placement Officer was first introduced and gave us a brief of what we can expect from the placement Office, and back then we never really had any hopes of getting placed. Soon, we started hearing names of companies, and a few months through, we saw ourselves sitting for interviews, and a few more months later, half of us already had internships sorted out, and cut towards the end of the year, almost 90% of the students of my branch were placed. Those who were yet to be placed were also excited because of the huge number of companies that were recruiting from our campus.
I would say Sunitha Ma’am is probably the best thing that happened to our batch
during the whole course of our journey at Christ University. She always made
sure that every individual student’s concerns were addressed. I, in fact,
missed a round of interview with Infosys and almost lost my offer, but our
Placement Officer persistently followed up with the company to schedule an interview
for me, and if not for that interview, I would not be working at Infosys right
now.”
