Corporates Beckon English Literature Students

The School of Arts and Humanities, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) (ranked 8th in the India Today rankings for Top 10 Arts Colleges in India) offers eight Undergraduate Programmes in English Literature and two Master’s Programmes viz MA English and Communication Studies and MA English and Cultural Studies. The Programmes promote an intellectual climate through artistic creation, critical mediation and innovative ideation. The mission is to facilitate the holistic development of students by building emotional, academic, social, professional and global competencies.

Over the years, the School of Arts and Humanities has also established an excellent track record for Campus Placements. Students of English Literature have been recruited for various job profiles in the corporate sector like Public Relations, Content Development, Social Media Managers, Corporate Communication, Technical Writing, Editing and Proof Reading and Language Trainers to name a few.

The Academic year 2020-21, despite the raging pandemic was excellent in terms of campus placements for the students. Some of the top recruiters include Thomson Reuters, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), IBM, BYJU’s, Viacom18, Accenture, AVEVA, Genesis BCW, Deloitte Consulting, Cognizant, Zee Media to name a few. The salary packages were in the range of Rs 4.00 to Rs 6.50 Lakhs CTC (Cost to Company) Per annum.

Apart from a dynamic and evolving curriculum, the students are also involved in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which help the students to develop and hone various skills in public speaking, leadership, decision making, team development etc. An International Conference ‘MELANGE’, was organized by the students in collaboration with Birmingham University, UK; ‘SRUJANA’, where the students impart English language training to students from government schools in the nearby slums have helped students evolve as better individuals with a heightened sense of social responsibility.

  Highest Packages and Top Recruiters The placement record at Christ (Deemed to be University) is something to be coveted, both in terms of highest packages offered and also top recruiters, mainly from the Big Four consisting of KPMG, Ernst Young, Deloitte and PriceWater Cooper (PwC) who make a big number of offers. The following statistics serve to authenticate the same.   There are over 60 companies which have offered a minimum CTC (Cost to Company) of Rs 5 Lakhs per annum, going up to Rs 13 Lakhs per annum. The best package offered was Rs 13.12 Lakhs by Sailax AI for students from the MBA and MA in Media and Communication Studies Programmes. Excellent Placements for Post Graduate Programmes in Computer Science

The Academic Year 2021-22 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), despite the disruption of normal academics due to the continuing Pandemic, has seen an excellent placement record, with 90.7% of the Post Graduate students from Master of Computer Applications (MCA), MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science getting placed through campus recruitment before the end of December 2021. A total number of 42 organizations have participated in the campus recruitment process during the current year and recruited 206 students. The job profiles offered include Software Developer, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analyst, Software Testing, Technical Writer, Instructional Designer, Data Scientist, Web Developer to name a few. The highest salary packages in terms of Cost to Company (CTC) was Rs 16.00 lacs offered by KPMG for the data analyst profile.
