Students’ Reflections on Placements
Students’ Reflections on Placements
As the Office of Placements, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) completes one month of the Placement season for the academic year 2021-22, a few students share their thoughts on the campus placement process, the challenges they faced, and how they emerged successful in landing their dream jobs.
"The Placement Office and the Department of Computer Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), has been a pillar of strength in helping me prepare for campus recruitment. I have been a student of the University for the past 4 years now, completing my undergraduate course and currently pursuing my post-graduation in Computer Science. I have been an avid coder and computer science enthusiast, aspiring to work as a valuable software engineer in a good company of repute. The Department of Computer Science has been conducting mock tests on Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Coding and Debugging problems since the start of the campus recruitment season and giving crucial insights to the elements of the selection process beyond just the resume writing or internships. Taking these tests gave me a nudge to introspect and hone my skills towards clearing the placement process. Furthermore, our placement coordinator, Dr Gobi R, has been a constant support to me and most of my friends in pushing us to incessantly up skill ourselves and stay updated with the latest trends in the industry. I am sincerely thankful to all my fellow teammates in the placements committee and my professors for providing me this excellent placement opportunity to land a dream job at Eurofins IT solutions, at the very beginning of the placement season."
Swarnava Ghosh, MSc Computer Science
"The placement process is an important step in the life of a student, and
I personally felt it was well coordinated and smooth. Looking at the POSITIVES,
there are more than a few - “The concept of student placement representatives
is very helpful, and it’s the best way for any student to reach out to the
companies. The Department of Professional Studies has done a great job by
bringing in industry experts, career counsellors, and alumni to engage with the
students on a regular basis and prepare them for the placement process. The
Department of Professional Studies has also conducted many skill-up sessions to
fine tune the students with all necessary attributes to bag their dream job. Also,’kudos’
to the Placement Office too for constantly managing the whole process so
smoothly despite multiple challenges posed by the Pandemic.and the entire
process being a virtual one”
Samar Bamel, BBA (F&A)
Nishi Asher, from BBA (F&A), who is placed at one of the Big Four auditing firms, says “The webinars recommended by the Department of Professional Studies on interview skills conducted by professional bodies helped me to a greater extent in clearing my interview rounds”. She also feels that the opportunity provided by the Department of Professional studies to interact with alumni and sharing of experiences helped them to gain insights into the do’s and don’ts during an interview process.”
Reflections on placements from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) students reveal meticulous preparation and invaluable support from faculty and placement coordinators. Kudos to the university for facilitating rewarding career opportunities!
