Excellent Placements for Post Graduate Programmes in Computer Science
The Academic Year 2021-22 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), despite the disruption of normal academics due to the continuing Pandemic, has seen an excellent placement record, with 90.7% of the Post Graduate students from Master of Computer Applications (MCA), MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science getting placed through campus recruitment before the end of December 2021. A total number of 42 organizations have participated in the campus recruitment process during the current year and recruited 206 students. The job profiles offered include Software Developer, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analyst, Software Testing, Technical Writer, Instructional Designer, Data Scientist, Web Developer to name a few.
The highest salary packages in terms of
Cost to Company (CTC) was Rs 16.00 lacs offered by KPMG for the data analyst
profile. Some of the other top paying recruiters in include DE Shaw Rs 11.50
lacs, Whatfix Rs 11.00 lacs, Citi Group Rs 10.00 lacs, Eurofins IT Solutions Rs
9.50 lacs, HSBC Rs 9.25 lacs and Gartner Rs 9.19 lacs. The top recruiters in
terms of offers made include Cerner Healthcare Solutions (24 selects),
Perficient (16 selects), Trivium Systems (15 selects), Simplify3X (15 selects)
and CS Labs (10 selects). The average package was about Rs 6.50 lacs and the
average stipend for internship offered was around Rs 22.5 thousand per month.
The Department of Computer Sciences, CHRIST
(Deemed to be University) started preparing students for the placement season
from the month of July. Soft skills sessions on topics like resume writing,
personal interview skills, mock group discussion sessions, aptitude and
technical quiz were conducted for the students on a weekly basis in association
with Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS). Apart from this an
alumni interaction, ‘Let’s Talk Placements’ was conducted by the Placement
Office to prepare the students for the campus recruitment process.
Some of the other programmes to prepare the
students for the transition from Campus to Corporate include ‘Career beyond the
Pandemic’ by Mr Sathyan Rajendran, Director, Advalent; ‘5 Secrets For A Great
Coding Career’ by Mr Atish Jain from Practo and ‘Current Job Opportunities During
Pandemic’ by Dr Venkateshwaran of Hexaware Technologies Ltd. All these talks by
experts from the industry helped the students gain meaningful insights into
what the industry expectations are from fresh recruits in terms of skill sets,
work culture and ethics etc. The efforts have paid off as a majority of the
students have been placed in reputed firms.
