MSc Statistics Placements - A Dream Debut 

The Department of Statistics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) introduced an MSc Statistics Programme in the academic year 2020-21 and we have the first batch graduating in the year 2021-22. As is the case with every new Programme, the students were anxious about good placement opportunities and suitable job profiles, with the raging pandemic also adding to their worries. However the ongoing placement season has put to rest all their apprehensions and the students have been recruited by reputed organizations like HSBC, Accenture, Tiger Analytics, IQVIA, Gartner, PaperPedia, GALE, Loyalitics to name a few. The profiles offered were in the areas of Data Analytics, Research, Academics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) etc. Average package was in the range of Rs 6.00 lacs CTC per annum and the highest was Rs 11. 50 lacs.

The primary reason behind choosing MSc Statistics at CHRIST (Deemed to be) University was the rich and profound syllabus offered by the Department. The curriculum was in line with the fast-moving data-oriented industries and could create an equilibrium between theoretical concepts and practical application.

The result of such a beautifully decorated curriculum could be seen in the rate of placements. I am extremely proud to be a part of this first year batch of MSTAT (2020-22) and we have had an excellent placement record till date, with more companies scheduled for the next couple of months. The course was also internship and research-friendly which benefited the students and boosted their experiences and exposures.

I would like to thank the Placement Office. Without this group of students and faculty, the placement process wouldn't have been this smooth and continuous. They have done an amazing job under the guidance of Mr. Sharon Verghese and Mr. Anil. The placement cell made sure to contact companies across domains which led to the diversity of MSTAT getting placements in various domains.

It’s been an incredible journey at Christ doing Masters in Statistics. Firstly, I need to mention the curriculum we have here; our coursework focused not only on pure statistics but also provided us the foundation to develop our skills in the latest Data Science, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning techniques. It is well updated with what we need in this IT industry. Along with all these, we have worked on our research paper which was beneficial during the interviews. At Paperpedia, since it is an academic research firm, they were impressed with the research work here at Christ. I must convey sincere regards to all our faculties; they were very supportive and guided me throughout my journey.

The reason I chose the MSc Statistics Program at Christ (Deemed to be University) was because of its advanced course plan which is an amalgamation of theory and practical. It helped me in cracking the interview at Loyalytics. My interview was taken by Mr.Ahmar, the CEO of the company. The interview consisted of a single round which focused more on the technical and analytical skills, case studies and guesstimates. The department introduced us to SQL and Power BI, which was helpful for me in the interview process. Loyalytics gave me an opportunity to intern as a Business Analyst. The internship program was taxing and my department supported me throughout these 3 months. With the guidance of the department and my mentors at Loyalytics, I have succeeded in getting a full time role as soon as I completed my internship.

As the students of the 1st batch of M.Sc. Statistics (2020-22) we were given an array of opportunities which led to exploring the subject with its practical applications. We got exposure in various fields of Statistics through coursework, seminars, and workshops. This enhanced our abilities to choose the domain of my interest. The placement cell of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) brought in companies which were specific to our career choices. The companies offered job roles pertaining to various fields like Data Science, Biostatistics, Consultation, Business Analytics and more. The placement cell also made sure the process of recruitment went smoothly with active communication between the companies and the students.

I am Jayashree Jadhav S , a final year MSc Statistics student of CHRIST UNIVERSITY. The MSc Statistics Programme has helped me crack my interview in Accenture, one of the fortune 500 companies.The MSc Statistics syllabus and the way it has been taught was sufficient enough to get through all the rounds. The interview process was quick and very interactive.There were four rounds in total consisting of, aptitude round, two technical rounds and a HR round. The aptitude round had questions related to Statistics and some technical questions. After which there were two technical rounds and the questions were purely based on Python, Machine Learning algorithms and also about my Research work. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. I wholeheartedly thank the department of Statistics for making us industry ready and also to excel in academia
