Master of Commerce in International Finance (MCom IF): Placements - A Dream Debut

The Department of Professional Studies under the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) introduced the Master of Commerce in International Finance (MCom IF) in the academic year 2020-21. The programme is designed to develop professionals with specialized skills and applied global competencies in the areas of Strategic Financial Management, Wealth Management and Risk Management catering to the contemporary needs of industry and academia.

Some of the other programme highlights include an advanced curriculum with hands-on exposure, research project and publication, experiential training sessions, employability skills enhancement certificate course in the area of Financial Technology, industry internships to name a few.

The first batch of graduating students in June 2022 had to grapple with multiple challenges on the campus recruitment front with the pandemic slowing down campus hiring and MCom IF being a relatively new programme. But, despite these challenges, the batch has graduated with an enviable record of cent percent placements. The top package was Rs 11.37 lacs, Cost to Company (CTC) by LAM Research. The other major recruiters include Deloitte USI, Ernst Young, PricewaterCooper and Finastra to name a few. The average package was in the range of Rs 5.00 lacs CTC.

The dream debut of MCom IF in terms of campus placements along with an industry oriented syllabus and focus on strong fundamentals, makes one optimistic of it developing into a much sought-after programme in the years to come.

  Highest Packages and Top Recruiters The placement record at Christ (Deemed to be University) is something to be coveted, both in terms of highest packages offered and also top recruiters, mainly from the Big Four consisting of KPMG, Ernst Young, Deloitte and PriceWater Cooper (PwC) who make a big number of offers. The following statistics serve to authenticate the same.   There are over 60 companies which have offered a minimum CTC (Cost to Company) of Rs 5 Lakhs per annum, going up to Rs 13 Lakhs per annum. The best package offered was Rs 13.12 Lakhs by Sailax AI for students from the MBA and MA in Media and Communication Studies Programmes. The Academic Year 2021-22 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), despite the disruption of normal academics due to the continuing Pandemic, has seen an excellent placement record, with 90.7% of the Post Graduate students from Master of Computer Applications (MCA), MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science getting placed through campus recruitment before the end of December 2021. A total number of 42 organizations have participated in the campus recruitment process during the current year and recruited 206 students. The job profiles offered include Software Developer, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analyst, Software Testing, Technical Writer, Instructional Designer, Data Scientist, Web Developer to name a few. The highest salary packages in terms of Cost to Company (CTC) was Rs 16.00 lacs offered by KPMG for the data analyst profile.
